Closer than we think?Former intelligence official urges US to disclose UFO evidence

A former intelligence official in the United States has called on the government to reveal evidence of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) after claiming that the US possesses "intact and partially intact" vehicles of non-human origin.

David Grusch, who previously led the analysis of unexplained anomalous phenomena (UAP) within a Department of Defense agency, alleges that the US has been in possession of these craft for several decades, the Guardian reports, citing The Debrief.

Grusch further states that information about these vehicles is being illegally withheld from Congress, and he faced retaliation from government officials when he shared classified information with them. Grusch left his position in April after a 14-year career in US intelligence.

Jonathan Grey, a current intelligence official, has confirmed the existence of “exotic materials”, saying: “We are not alone.” In a 2021 report, the Pentagon said it had sighted over 140 encounters with UAP in recent years.

Despite these revelations, there is ongoing resistance to reporting encounters with UFOs due to stigma and fears of career hindrance. The panel established by NASA to investigate unexplained phenomena highlighted the challenges caused by harassment and stigmatisation.

In a statement, a Nasa spokesperson said: “So far, NASA has not found any credible evidence of extraterrestrial life and there is no evidence that UAPs are extraterrestrial. However, Nasa is exploring the solar system and beyond to help us answer fundamental questions, including whether we are alone in the universe.”
