FranceFirst snowfall of the season in the Vosges mountains

The Vosges mountains were adorned in white after heavy snowfall over the weekend, thanks to the first blizzard of the season.

By Sunday evening, the Hohneck, one of the highest peaks in the Vosges mountain range, situated some 3 hours away from Luxembourg, was blanketed with snow.

According to local forecaster MétéoLor, snowflakes were recorded falling from 700/800 metres above sea level. Météo des Vallées said temperatures reached zero degrees at a height of around 1,000 metres, with the snowfall beginning at around 800 metres.

The weather services shared posts across social media depicting the snow across the Hohneck, in the La Bresse domain, which opens to skiers next month.

Similar scenes were observed at the Markstein peak at around 1,000 metres above sea level.,

The Steinlebach auberge, situated on the Route des Crêtes in Markstein, also shared images of the winter wonderland, while the Champ du Feu hotel in Alsace offered up their perfectly cosy snowy scenes.
