The Federal President reminded the public that it was not only up to politicians and experts to decide when safety measures could be relaxed: it was up to everyone involved. And while it may be particularly difficult to follow safety rules at this current moment, it was important to do so, now more than ever.
Steinmeier also hoped the crisis would initiate a new kind of society: a society characterised by trust, solidarity, and an awareness of past mistakes and actions.
