Neighbouring France has experienced its second fatal accident involving a train on Monday morning, days after a 17-year-old died in Blénod-lès-Pont-à-Mousson.
According to the SNCF, a person was hit by a train between the stations of Metz and Metz-Nord. The SNCF will be diverting traffic for the time being and trains will not stop at Metz Nord.
Trains towards Luxembourg will instead travel via Metz Devant Les Ponts, which will cause delays and some cancellations.
At around 8.30 am, rail traffic began returning to normal. There is no further information on the deceased.
