An Australian family from Newcastle had planned the trip of the year to Europe. The flight to Munich would have taken around 15 hours. To make up for the disrupted travel plans, the family came up with a rather ingenious idea: they recreated the draining flight... from the safe confines of their living room.
Kirsty Russell told the Guardian Australia that her husband had given birth to the idea and even went as far as coming up with security checks, boarding passes, and flight attendants.
“It started as a joke but it has actually been quite fun,” Russell explained. She added that “we thought the kids would not be into it at all. But they have embraced it.”
The family ended up spending no less than 15 hours in their living room. The virtual flight was reportedly topped off with Schnitzels and Pretzels to recreate the full Germany experience.
