Since Friday, 23 September 2022, a number of Citroën, Opel, and Peugeot cars have been recalled across Europe. BMW has been impacted since September 16 as well.

According to the ‘Rappel Conso’, a French government website dedicated to informing consumers about potentially harmful products, defective cables, brakes, or fuel lines may lead to fires or accidents in affected models.

Peugeot

Three ranges of Peugeot cars are affected.

  • Expert and Traveller models produced between 20 January and 28 January 2022 are reported to have a defective rear brake.
  • Expert, Traveller, 208, and 2008 models produced between 17 March and 30 April 2022 are being recalled due to a faulty wiring harness that could cause a fire.
  • Peugeot 208s produced between August and November 2021 are also being recalled due to a defective fuel line.

Citroën

  • Authorities are recalling Jumpy and Spacetourer models produced between 20 and 28 January 2022 due to a potentially faulty rear brake that increases the risk of an accident.

Opel

  • Owners of Opel VivaroC, Zafira Life(KO) models released at the same time (between 20 and 28 January 2022) are also affected by a defective rear brake.

BMW

  • A recall was also issued on 16 September for BMW iX, i4, and i7 models produced between 7 and 8 July 2022, due to a manufacturing defect that can lead to high voltage battery failures, increasing the risk of fire.
