The health authorities are looking at a number of indicators to guide the move towards reducing lockdown measures.
The circulation of the virus is observed by calculating the share of coronavirus-linked activity in the total activity of emergency structures. This rate is still too high (above 6%) in Haute-Marne (8.2%), in Moselle (6.9%) and in the Vosges (7.3%).
To date, 3,798 people are currently hospitalised for Covid-19 in health facilities in the Grand Est, 19 less than the day before. 504 people are currently in intensive care, 10 less than the day before, while 8,313 people have been discharged from hospital.
The saturation of hospitals is also taken into account, calculated at a regional level and not at the level of each department, because the response to the crisis calls on all public and private resuscitation and intensive care capacities.
The reference level corresponds to the initial intensive care capacities of the Grand Est region before the crisis, ie 471 beds. The indicator is red if 80% or more of the initial intensive care ward is occupied by Covid-19 patients. With 504 people currently in intensive care, the percentage has been exceeded.
Mortality is also an indicator. As of 3 May, the number of cumulative deaths was made up of:
2,953 people hospitalised with the virus 1,487 residents died in medical establishments for the elderly, 434 residents of nursing homes who later died in hospital, 5 residents in non-medical establishments for the elderly, and 20 residents in other establishments.
