A saddening milestone on Tuesday evening: More than 1,000 people have died from the coronavirus in the Grand Est region of France.

According to numbers by the Public Health Ministry 1,115 people have died of the virus on Tuesday evening at 10.15pm.

The most affected department remains Haut-Rhin with 411 deaths. Moselle and Bas-Rhin follow with 193 and 180 deaths.

In the Vosges, 88 people died after contracting the virus, while 59 have in Meurthe-et-Moselle. Marne recorded 46 deaths, Meuse 22, Haute-Marne and Aube both 18 in total.

The only department still spared is that of the Ardennes where no patient has succumbed to the disease.
