Stuttgart (DE)Care worker fined €340 for starting work before curfew's end

RTL Today
A care nurse for the elderly who left her home in Baden-Württemberg a mere ten minutes before curfew was lifted at 5am has been fined by police for breaking Covid restrictions.

The Stuttgarter Nachrichten paper reported that the nurse left her home at 4.50am to start her shift in geriatric care. Police stopped the woman and fined her €340 for breaking curfew, claiming she did not have a permit to be out before the 5am deadline.

An official investigation may be launched into the matter, according to Wilfried Klenk, State Secretary at the Baden-Württemberg Interior Ministry, as some of the reported facts surrounding the case do not add up. The standard fine for breaking curfew is just 75 euros, so it is unclear why the nurse has been charged a higher amount.

The nurse’s family declined to comment, according to a report on RTL.de.

Germany’s curfew hours apply nationwide from 8pm to 5am.
