Police officers called to the scene, according to Belgian media reports, reacted to what was considered to be a suspect package in front of the synagogue.
Bomb disposal units were dispatched to examine and dispose of the parcel, if found to hold explosives.
According to the local police commission cited by Sud Info, the bomb disposal team were at the scene by 11 am and quickly determined that the package was of no threat.
