The body of a 70-year-old Portuguese man who had been missing since December 2025 has been found near a supermarket in Mont-Saint-Martin, with authorities opening an investigation into the circumstances of his death.

The body of a man who had been missing since December last year has been discovered in Mont-Saint-Martin, France, just across the border from Rodange.
On Monday afternoon, the remains were found near a large supermarket in the town. The information was confirmed to Luxembourg newspaper L’Essentiel by the public prosecutor after images had already begun circulating on social media.
According to the prosecutor, the deceased was a 70-year-old Portuguese national who had been living in a social care institution in Mont-Saint-Martin and had been reported missing since December 2025.
An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
