No fewer than 80 new speed cameras will be installed across Wallonia, Belgium by the end of the year, including 21 in the Province of Luxembourg, with several located close to the Luxembourg border in towns such as Messancy, Bertogne, Habay, and Gouvy.

The initiative forms part of a clear policy by Walloon Minister for Mobility and Road Safety François Desquesnes, who in early August also announced the installation of 32 new average-speed cameras. The aim is clear: to monitor and penalise in order to prevent dangerous driving.

This week, the minister revealed the locations for what will mainly be fixed cameras and red-light enforcement devices. Several municipalities will receive more than one, such as Bertrix (four), Gouvy (two), Habay (two), and Wellin (two).

The advantage for drivers is that the exact locations are now known. However, the advice remains the same: stick to the speed limits to avoid both fines and dangerous situations.

The new cameras will be installed at the following sites: in Bertogne on Rue du Village; in Bertrix on Rue de Burtaubois, Rue de l’Église, Rue de Blézy, and Rue de la Fontinelle; in Bouillon on Rue de l’Ange Gardien; in Érezée at Briscol; in Florenville on Rue de la Forêt; in Gouvy on Rue d’Houffalize and in Beho; in Habay on Rue de Luxembourg and Rue des Anglières; in Herbeumont on Rue de la Fontaine; in Hotton on Avenue de la Gare; in La Roche-en-Ardenne at Samrée; in Messancy on Rue d’Arlon; in Meix-devant-Virton on Route de Meix; in Musson on Rue René Nicolas; in Neufchâteau on Chaussée d’Arlon; and in Wellin on Rue de la Station.
