A bakery in Metz is taking part in a nationwide event, giving lucky customers the chance to draw kings – and win a ticket for a chance to receive an ingot worth almost 450 euros.

With Three Kings' Day coming up, the "Comptoir national de l'or", the national gold trade in France, has organised a special something for the customers of over 43 bakeries in France. Among the chosen ones is the bakery called "Fort", located in rue du Grand Cerf. Clients of these selected bakeries could be the lucky receivers of a ticket enabling them to win an ingot of five grams, worth 445€.

In order to win, clients who have bought a Three Kings' cake need to scan the QR code on the bag or the flyer. They can also sign up by filling out a form which needs to be taken to an agency of the "Comptoir national de l'or". The prize draw will take place on 31 January, on the final day of the competition.

The initiative launched by the national gold trade is reminiscent of a tradition of the 18th century, when small gold pieces were hidden inside the cakes in wealthier families.
