A fatal accident occurred near Bastogne, Belgium, claiming the life of a Luxembourg nurse on Christmas Eve.
The victim, a man in his fifties, was a married father to a 17-year-old and was returning home from work in Luxembourg at the time of the crash.
The accident took place on Monday afternoon, 23 December 2024, along the N4 near Bastogne. Around 3.30pm, the victim's vehicle collided with a lorry. Emergency services rushed him to Bastogne Hospital before transferring him to a larger medical centre at the CHU. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The deceased lived in Sauvenière, a village in Belgium's Walloon Region, approximately a two-hour drive from Luxembourg City. The incident, reported by Belgian media outlet L'Avenir, has left a deep impact on both his local community and his colleagues in Luxembourg.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
