The body of a teenage boy was discovered by a pond in Loudrefing, Moselle, on Tuesday.

The macabre discovery was made at around 5.00pm on Tuesday. The body is thought to be that of a 16-year-old boy who was reported missing just hours prior. Police had launched a search operation with twenty officers, a helicopter, sniffer dogs and the river brigade.

The authorities cordoned off the area where the body was found. Investigators suspect the teenager's death to have occurred under suspicious circumstances.

On Wednesday, local media reported that two men aged 22 and 34 had been taken into custody. The first knew the victim and regularly went fishing with him. The second was arrested by GIGN (National Gendarmerie Intervention Group) officers early on Wednesday morning

According to details revealed by Le Républicain Lorrain , the teenager's body bore marks of violence. Investigators suspect a fight linked to a drug deal gone wrong.
