A 15-year-old boy was killed after riding on the roof of an S-Bahn (rapid city train) in the German capital of Berlin.
The teenager jumped on the roof of the train on Friday evening in Steglitz-Zehlendorf, along with two companions aged 16 and 23. It is assumed he collided with a signal bracket, police reported. He was severely injured and died shortly after.
Both companions and a 37-year-old eye witness were under shock. The 23-year-old and 37-year-old were both treated in hospital.
Train surfing is the act of riding a train on the outside, which is extremely dangerous due to low-hanging power lines, objects along the route, tunnels and risk of falling off.
