Their boy, who was born on Wednesday, has been named Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson.
Wilfred and Lawrie were the names of Johnson and Symonds’ grandfathers, while the child’s second middle name is a direct reference to Dr Nick Hart and Dr Nick Price, who attended to the Prime Minister when he contracted COVID-19.
The news was received with mixed feelings on social media, with some pointing out that the name Wilfred has not been particularly common in the past century.
Others were less critical, and took the opportunity to congratulate the couple with some dreadful poetry.
