Berlin7 injured as car drives into crowd near Zoological Gardens

A car has driven into a crowd in Berlin this Sunday morning, causing at least 7 injuries of which three are major.

According to the latest information, a black Mercedes started driving on the pavement at Hardenbergplatz, near the Zoological Gardens metro stop in the German capital.

German newspaper Bild reports that the driver was quickly arrested by police.

One victim was apparently gravely injured after being run over by the car. Numerous witnesses are receiving treatment for shock, with more than 50 police officers present on the scene.

While further details are not yet known, authorities have suggested that the incident was not due to political or religious motivations.
