German police point the finger at French protests against Covid-19 restrictions.

Some 300 people demonstrated on Saturday 6 March in Saarbrücken at the border crossing near the “Goldene Bremm”.

A police spokesman for the German press agency said it was a demonstration taking place on French territory, presumably against the applicable corona regulations, which had an impact on the German side.

One street was closed to through traffic, meaning that a nearby corona test centre could only be reached by foot, the Saarländischer Rundfunk reported on Twitter.

According to the police spokesman, the French officials informed the German police on Friday evening about a planned demonstration that was to take place near the German border in Spicheren, France. Why the demonstrators were then at the “Goldende Bremm” is not known.

Several demonstrators violated the obligation to wear mouth and nose protection. For the German officials, however, it was difficult to intervene due to the border location.
