Spiderwebs can be annoying, and possibly alarming if you don't know where the spider is. But according to Mother Nature Network, spider silk is a vastly undervalued wonder of nature, and worth a second look.

For example, spider silk is stronger by weight than steel. There are at least seven different types of silk strands. Most spiders can make three or four types. Spider silk leaves the spider as a liquid called ‘spider dope,’ then rapidly turns solid. Finally, researchers say spider silk can be tuned to a wide range of harmonics. Spiders “tune” their silk like a guitar!
