Chemist Alan Aitken was organizing an office when he found an old roll of papers.

When Aitken unfurled the rolls, he discovered an archaic version of the periodic table of the elements.

The top of the document featured German writing that translates to “Periodic Regularity of the Elements according to Mendeleev.”

According to experts, the document dates back to the 1880s and is believed to be the world’s oldest.
