A new study shows that heavy exposure to automobile fumes may raise the risk of developing a degenerative eye disease.
Gizmodo reports that the eroding condition is known as age-related macular degeneration or AMD. AMD is characterized by the steady erosion of the macula, a part of the retina that lets us see straight ahead.
The progression of AMD can vary from person to person. Some people experience few problems, while others quickly lose vision. The disease doesn’t cause complete blindness, but it is one of the leading causes of irreversible vision loss.
