The 31st edition of the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) will take place from 13 to 18 September 2019 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
For six days, the Inter Expo Center will welcome 155 young scientists aged between 14 and 20 who will compete to be acclaimed the best young European scientists 2019. For over 25 years, the contest has been bringing together the brightest young minds in European science, highlighting the importance of research and innovation for future generations.
Sofia will see 100 projects from 40 countries compete for the prizes. The young participants will present their projects, covering a wide range of scientific fields, to a prestigious international scientific jury as well as national and international press and the general public, in the hope of winning not only a prize but also the recognition of their peers.
This year’s edition will offer contestants the possibility to meet and compete with the best of their contemporaries at European and international level. During their stay, they will be treated to several special events to celebrate the 31st edition of the Contest. These include lectures by eminent scientific personalities, like Dr. Claire Lee, Particle Physicist on the ATLAS Experiment at CERN and Science Communicator, as well as visits of research facilities.
