The accident took place on the main road and left the man severely injured. Passers-by took care of him. According to the police, the implicated motorist was nowhere to be found once authorities reached the site of the accident. A subsequent search for the driver bore no fruit, but according to reports, the driver later turned themselves in on Thursday afternoon.
An investigation has been launched into the incident to determine the exact circumstances.
Authorities closed the road to traffic following the accident, with motorists directed via a diversion.
