Strong winds of 65 km/h, potentially reaching up to 75 km/h, are expected in Luxembourg this Thursday. MétéoLux has issued a yellow alert for the entire country.
The alert will be triggered between 6 pm and 9 pm this Thursday evening and for now, does not extend to Friday.
Moderate-intensity showers are forecast for late Thursday afternoon, with rains potentially intensifying in the early evening. The rainy weather is expected to persist throughout the night. MétéoLux warns against an increased risk of aquaplaning (or ‘hydroplaning’) on the roads.
While Météo France has not issued a warning for the Lorraine region, violent floods are raging in the north of France. Belgium’s Royal Institute of Meteorology has also issued a warning for the province of Luxembourg due to heavy rains that may last until Friday evening. The total accumulated rainfall could range from “20 to 40 mm (liters/m2) over at least a quarter of the province.”
