Postponed but not cancelled: Upon enquiry by RTL, the Ministry for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises confirmed that the winter sales will begin on Wednesday 20 January, i.e. just over two weeks later than the original date of 2 January.
The measure was presented to the state council on Tuesday.
Luxembourg's winter sales usually start a little earlier than those in its neighbouring countries of France and Belgium. However, in 2021 they will for once begin later than those in Belgium, which started on 4 January, and around the same time as those in France.
The winter sales will end on Wednesday 17 February (Ash Wednesday / Äschermëttwoch), during the Carnival holidays.
