Covid restrictionsWe will decide on new measures when the situation worsens: Dan Kersch

RTL Today
The vice PM was a guest at RTL Radio on Thursday morning.

Kersch praised the administration's quick reactions and adaptive measures in light of the ever-evolving pandemic. Compared to our neighbouring countries, the Grand Duchy has found a middle way, the LSAP politician stated. Kersch also believes that the recent criticism of delayed counteractions is being voiced by the same people who previously wanted fewer restrictions.

Kersch further talked about the difficulties of the decision-making process. He acknowledged that the administration may have to announce even stricter measures if the situation were to continue worsening. However, he also underlined that countries like France and Germany, who have gone back to partial lockdowns, were facing greater difficulties in their hospitals than the Grand Duchy at the moment. The vice PM also reminded listeners that the national curfew can already be considered a drastic step.

When asked about the extension of legal work hours, Kersch noted that the measure was necessary to assure that especially the health and care sectors can maintain operations in times of need.

Kersch briefly addressed the implications of the restrictions on the world of sports, but stated that he would fully elaborate on the issues during his press briefing on Thursday at 5 pm.
