Following heavy rainfall, particularly in the French Vosges region, the water levels of the Moselle River had been steadily increasing in recent days.

As a precautionary measure, the flood warning service remained on alert until 4pm on Saturday. Throughout Thursday and Friday night, the water levels of the Moselle continued to rise.

In Stadtbredimus, the water level peaked at 5.23 metres, nearing the maximum threshold of 5.30 metres, at around 9am on Saturday. Similarly, in Remich, the water level reached 4.43 metres, approaching the threshold of 4.52 metres.

However, by the afternoon, the water levels began to recede gradually. At approximately 4pm, the Flood Service reported a decline in water levels, with the trend expected to persist. Based on current weather forecasts, a resurgence in water levels is not anticipated.

Consequently, the flood alert has been lifted.
