The boy, who belonged to a small group of French tourists on a day trip, sustained fatal injuries following a fall down a ravine near the “Däiwelsinsel” viewpoint. According to RTL sources, he was one of four children exploring the area accompanied by two women, all French nationals.
Berdorf mayor Joé Nilles told RTL that the municipal council was scheduled to meet with forest rangers on Wednesday to discuss the necessary measures required to install warning signs around the area in future.
There are currently no signs around the viewpoint and surrounding area. However, the incident on Sunday was not attributed to any damage or defects to the safety railings at the viewpoint.
