
A young man was arrested in Wiltz after robbing a petrol station on Rue du Dix Septembre overnight from Tuesday and threatening employees with a knife. The 17-year-old emptied the cash registers and fled the scene without injuring any staff. Police launched a search, which was initially unsuccessful, but eventually the thief’s identity was established and the suspect located later on Wednesday.
The Diekirch prosecutor’s office filed charges of armed extortion against the young man, who was taken to the Dreiborn youth facility ahead of his court appearance.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, police were alerted to an individual smashing up cars and café windows in Esch-sur-Alzette. Officers located the suspect on Rue d’Audun and took him into custody.
Finally, at around 2.25am on Thursday morning, police received reports of a fight on Avenue Charlotte, Differdange. A group of four men had been attacked by an unknown individual brandishing a hammer, leaving one of the group with injuries. A nearby police patrol took the attacker into custody and confiscated both the hammer and a knife concealed on his person.
