Following the 2019 fire at Martyrs car park, which caused significant damage to the ceiling, the facility has been closed for renovations. Initially expected to reopen in 2024, the car park will now welcome visitors on 17 March 2025.
In a City Breakfast address on Wednesday, Luxembourg City’s mayor Lydia Polfer provided further details about the renovated facility. The number of parking spaces has decreased from 447 to 361, a result of enlarging the spaces.
The new design includes 12 spaces for electric vehicles, 12 for people with reduced mobility, nine for women, and 32 for bikes. The total cost of the renovation came to €28.5 million, €6 million more than the 2022 estimate.
