Clement harshly criticised the current two-people-rule, stating that it was "absurd, incoherent, and impossible to check". Instead, he suggests to simply define it as "one household" instead of two people, or to exclude children under the age of 12 from the rule. This would lead to a greater acceptance of the rule, which is important because rules are more likely to be broken when the public disagrees with them.
The MP further criticised what he perceives as a "laisser-faire" mentality by the government in certain areas. In the case of schools and nursery homes, Clement explained, the government allowed the respective administrations to handle the situation almost entirely on their own, while it imposed harsh restrictions on the Horesca sector simultaneously. The government could have been more tactful in the handling of this particular situation, according to Clement.
In general, the MP regrets that there is no clear analysis of the situation: Where precisely do people get infected? In cafés? In restaurants? Or in hotel restaurants?
Clement also suspects that the government's focus on keeping schools open and operational had less to do with educating young people and more with having them supervised so that their parents could continue to go to work.
In regard to the vaccination strategy, Clement stressed that there were still many issues that needed to be addressed.
