
In total, four candidates submitted applications for the licences. Minister Yuriko Backes confirmed the licences had been awarded to Luxair SA and Alyzia SAS following a consultation with the airport’s managing entity and users committee.
Previously, the two licences were held by Luxair and Belgian company Aviapartner, which began working at Findel in 2016. Aviapartner hoped to win more low-cost airlines such as Ryanair as customers, but Luxair offered better conditions. Ground handling includes accompanying passengers from their arrival at the airport to their departure or transfer. In addition, there is the management of luggage, the loading and unloading of planes, parking aircraft and preparing for the flight.
