The incident took place in the Cents tunnel towards Trier at around 2.20pm on Thursday. Two lanes were closed off as a result of the crash, with the left lane blocked by the crashed car, while the lorry remained on the hard shoulder.
Motorists were advised to exercise caution in the area, as traffic jams began to build up around the capital in the direction of the German border.
Elsewhere, traffic slowed down on the A3 motorway after a car broke down in the direction of Luxembourg City, near the Livange roadworks site.
