The incident occurred at 12.45pm on the CR106 between Elvange and Noerdange.
One of the drivers had to be freed from the wreckage of their vehicle by the emergency services and received treatment from a paramedic at the scene. Both motorists were subsequently taken to hospital with injuries, as the air ambulance was deployed to take one person for urgent treatment.
The road was closed to traffic to permit the police to complete their investigative duties.
