
Police arrived at Avenue de la Liberté shortly after 9pm, where the brawlers had been separated by passersby.
Two people suffered minor injuries in the fight and received medical treatment on site before they were taken to the police station for questioning. A gas pistol and two knives were confiscated in the process.
Driving licences withdrawn
At around 9pm police were informed of a hit and run incident in Hollerich. A motorist caused an accident at a roundabout, gaining two flat tyres in the process, but neither this nor the deployment of the car's airbags discouraged the driver from carrying on with his journey.
Officers caught up with the motorist near the Gare district, where they discovered he was over the legal alcohol limit. A report was written up and the man's licence was confiscated.
Earlier on Thursday evening, police received reports of erratic driving in Heiderscheid around 8pm. Officers at the scene stopped a man who was driving under the influence. A further search revealed the driver did not have insurance, the car's technical certificate had expired and he had failed to pay road tax. The car was seized and officers confiscated his licence.
