Police took two drivers who had had too much to drink out of traffic. At around 10pm on Saturday, a patrol at a petrol station on op der Wemperhaart in Diekirch spotted three men who were visibly intoxicated. When officers asked how they planned to get home, the men said they were waiting for a friend to come and collect them. Shortly afterwards, however, the three got into a car and drove off. During the ensuing check, it emerged that one of the three had been at the wheel. His driving licence was seized and the car impounded.
At around 2.30am, police received a report of a person who had driven off in her car in Kayl even though she had had too much to drink. Officers soon found the vehicle on Rue de Dudelange in Kayl. The driver smelled of alcohol but refused a breathalyser test and became aggressive. In the end, her licence was revoked and she was charged with insulting an officer.
