During the lunchtime hours on Tuesday, two separate accidents occurred, disrupting traffic on the A1 and part of the A3.
The first accident took place on the lanes leading to the Irrgärtchen roundabout, while the second incident involved four vehicles and happened between the Howald tunnel and the Irrgärtchen exit. The two accidents occurred within minutes of each other.
As a consequence of the accidents, significant traffic congestion spanning several kilometres had been reported on the A1 in the direction of Luxembourg City to Trier.
The traffic slowdown had also affected the access roads from the A3 to the A1, causing severe disruptions in the vicinity of Croix de Gasperich.
