CoronavirusTriple vaccinated people should not fear an infection, says Luxembourg virologist

RTL Today
In conversation with RTL, Luxembourg's chief virologist recently said that people who have been vaccinated three times are barely at risk of facing severe consequences from a Covid-19 infection.

More than 300,000 people in Luxembourg contracted Covid-19 over the course of the past three years. According to figures from the Ministry of Health, more than 1,230 people had died following an infection up until March 2023.

Nevertheless, news around coronavirus has become much rarer in the meantime. Hospitals are no longer overburdened and even in the everyday work of virologists, Covid-19 no longer plays a significant role.

According to Prof Dr Claude Muller, people who received three vaccinations and have also perhaps been infected with the virus barely have a reason to fear serious consequences. Every further infection will boost a person’s immune system, argues the virologist.

People who have not been vaccinated should still expect to contract the coronavirus sooner or later, according to Dr Muller, who also warned that these patients might face severe symptoms.

In response to a parliamentary enquiry from the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV), Minister of Health Paulette Lenert recently announced that Luxembourg’s vaccine stock is big enough to once again inoculate the entire population should another infection wave unfold.
