Besides the perpetual question of vaccine supply, one of the main concerns of the imminent second vaccination phase is how to safely transport those over 75 and highly vulnerable people to the vaccination centres.

Following an appeal by the Minister of Health, some municipalities have offered to provide transport services. But with just a few days to go before the launch, there is still scant detail on the matter, and no official communication from health authorities. Upon request, the Ministry merely stated that Differdange and Mamer were organising a transport system.

FEW LOCAL INITIATIVES CONFIRMED

Of these two, only Mamer got back to us and confirmed they have set up an "Imfbus" offering free transport for eligible people. This can be reached on the number 2810 831.

In
Diekirch, those concerned can use the taxi service "Taxi Lopes" to be taken to the vaccination centre in Ettelbruck. Details can be found here.

In Dudelange, a Flexibus will take patients to the vaccination centre in Belval. This must be booked 24 hours in advance.

Bettembourg aims to offer a free shuttle service for "those over 65 and vulnerable people". Residents can contact the CIGL on 26 51 05 76. Their vaccination appointment will be made at the same time.

Luxembourg City have so far not given any details on an initiative, while Esch-sur-Alzette will be offering a shuttle service, with more details available next week.

With only a few days to go, nothing seems to have emerged on the national level and those affected will have to rely on their municipalities - or their own initiative - to find their way to the vaccination centres.
