Maintenance teams were on site working on the issue, but delays and cancellations on the Luxembourg City-Rodange train route plagued commuters throughout the day.
CFL said trains would resume normal circulation from midday Wednesday onwards; however, a later update confirmed they had been unable to resolve the problem.
RE (Regional Express) trains between Luxembourg and Rodange are cancelled, while other services should expect disruption on Thursday as well.
