The crash took place around a kilometre from the Sandweiler/Hamm slip road, with six cars piling up on the passing lane heading towards Kirchberg and the Croix de Gasperich.
The left lane was blocked as a result of the collision, leading to traffic jams as far back as the Grengewald junction and the A7. On the opposite side of the motorway, traffic slowed down as a result of curious motorists.
