Three vehicles were involved in a crash on the A1 just before 4.30pm, between the Gréngewald junction and the Senningerberg exit in the direction of Trier. Traffic was diverted to the hard shoulder as the incident left two main lanes blocked. At the time of writing, traffic was backed up by around six kilometres. Three people were injured in the accident.
Earlier on Thursday, a separate incident involving three vehicles led to a brief closure of the A1 near the Croix de Gasperich, shortly after 3pm. The vehicles were cleared shortly before 3.30pm, allowing traffic to resume despite significant delays. A motorist stuck in the traffic jam told RTL Infos that cars were barely moving and advised drivers to avoid the area.

According to the CGDIS, two people sustained injuries in the crash and were cared for by Findel ambulance, and Luxembourg City/Hesperange fire fighters.

Traffic on the A3 towards Thionville was also disrupted following a multi-car pile-up on the linked A31 motorway near Entrange. Around seven kilometres of traffic jams were reported on Luxembourg’s busiest motorway.

In Esch-sur-Alzette, one person was hurt when two cars collided shortly after midday, while a pedestrian was knocked down by a vehicle in the Weimerskirch district in the capital.
