Amid a Europe-wide recovery in tourism from the after-effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, Luxembourg was the only country in the EU to see a decrease (albeit of only 0.1%) in nights spent at tourist accommodation establishments from 2022 to 2023.

On the other end of the spectrum, Malta and Cyprus saw rises of over 20% year-on-year.

The nights spent in tourist accommodation in Luxembourg are still down by 0.3% compared to 2019 levels, suggesting that establishments have struggled to expand in the aftermath of the pandemic.
