The weather institutes in Luxembourg, France, and Belgium are all forecasting thunderstorms and sudden showers this Monday.
In the Grand Duchy, MétéoLux sees a “risk of thunderstorms” which will “increase from the evening onwards”. Although it has not yet issued an alert, the weather service is nevertheless expecting 5 to 7 litres of rain per square metre and wind gusts of up to 50 km/h.
The rest of the day will be hot: 17 to 19°C in the morning and up to 28°C in the afternoon.
Météo France expects “another heavy thunderstorm situation” on Monday. “In particular, we will be watching for thunderstorms to develop in the afternoon and evening, from the Centre Val-de-Loire to the German borders”, warns the service. Lorraine has already been placed on a yellow alert. However, Météo France believes that a change to orange might be put in place later on Monday.
The heaviest rainfall is expected “during the afternoon, then in the evening”. Météo France is further stressing “the sudden and rapid nature of these stormy conditions”.
Lastly, in Belgium, the northern half of the country has been placed on yellow alert as new rain showers are expected from France in the evening. Precipitation is also forecast in Wallonia.
