The incident occurred on the A31 in the direction of Luxembourg City-Thionville, near the Kanfen exit, which led to the left-hand lane being obstructed.
As of 3.15pm, a substantial 5-kilometre traffic jam had already formed, with the sluggish traffic extending all the way to Croix de Bettembourg.
