Gentlefolk in Luxembourg are gearing up for their annual ride this Sunday, with around 150 participants already signed up for the event, and over 6 thousand euros collected for worthy causes.

The worldwide charity event has been taking place since 2012, the year it was founded by Mark Hawwa in Sydney, Australia.

The idea reportedly sprouted after seeing an image of character Don Draper (from popular TV show Mad Men) sitting on a classic motorcycle while wearing a fancy suit. This perceived contrast in styles felt like a fun way to grab public attention to worthy causes such as mental health and cancer research.

Thousands of gentlefolk (not just men!) from hundreds of cities all over the world have been participating in this ride for charity. Last year alone, over 100k riders from 107 countries banded together to raise 6.7 million dollars.

According to Ignacio Fernandez, a member of the team coordinating the Luxembourgish event, 120 people participated in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride from the Grand Duchy in 2023. The event was supported by the Luxembourg Police, the Automobile Club of Luxembourg and ‘La Fondation Cancer’.

This year’s edition will kick off from the steps of the Philharmonie, an iconic landmark in the city. The riders will be present from 12:30pm to 3pm, before embarking on their charitable ride.

If you would like to know how to join up, participate or support the event, you can visit the official website for more information.

Enjoy the ride!
