Schneidewind, also known through his appearance on the German television programme “Mein Lokal, dein Lokal,” where Luxembourg restaurateurs competed in a special episode, knew from the outset that his restaurant’s lifespan would be limited.

Conveniently located as an extension of the renowned concert hall, the Tempo restaurant has offered guests a welcoming space to enjoy a meal or drink. However, its days are numbered. The building will be demolished to make way for a new rehearsal hall, part of an expansion project for the Philharmonie.

This development did not come as a surprise to Schneidewind, who was informed of the plans when he took over the lease. “They asked me at the time if I wanted to take over the lease for two years. It expires at the end of August and the restaurant will close,” Schneidewind said.

Despite the closure, Schneidewind has no plans to retire. He intends to continue his work with the Philharmonie, overseeing the catering for its three foyer bars, while seeking new opportunities for the Tempo brand.

“I’ve applied for [the restaurant at the aquatic centre] Badeanstalt, so we’ll see what happens. I’m also considering the possibility of a Tempo pop-up in Luxembourg City,” Schneidewind added. For now, he remains focused on exploring alternatives to keep the restaurant’s concept alive.
