Swimming has resumed in the Upper Sûre lake after water quality improved, the Water Management Authority announced Tuesday. The lifting of restrictions comes just four days after officials banned all water activities due to toxic cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms detected near swimming areas last Friday.

Monitoring by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) confirmed the algae blooms have dissipated following recent temperature drops, with toxin concentrations now falling below safety thresholds. The authority stated this improvement eliminates the public health risk that prompted the temporary closure.

While recreational activities are now permitted, the Water Management Authority continues to update its website with real-time status reports for all official bathing sites.
