As part of a police check in Rumelange at around 6.40pm, a motorist fled the scene. The suspect was stopped before reaching the border, in the area of the petrol station near the roundabout. The reason why the driver attempted to evade the check is still under investigation.
Initial reports from witnesses claiming that the petrol station in Rumelange had been robbed were not confirmed following RTL’s checks with the police.
